Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE
Results) / 10 / Tenth / 10th / X - Exam Results 2008
Tuesday, 27 May 2008 - Class X students of schools affiliated
to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the Chennai
Region, have recorded an overall pass percentage of 95.25 this
year.
Declaring the results here on Tuesday, CBSE’s regional
officer V. Nagaraju said this was a 2.25 percentage point-increase
from last year’s 93 per cent. Girls have secured a 95.58
pass percentage, outshining boys who secured a pass percentage
of 94.99. Puducherry has secured the top spot in the region
with a pass percentage of 99.69, while Tamil Nadu has secured
98.56. The Chennai Region comprises Andaman and Nicobar Islands,
Andhra Pradesh, Daman and Diu, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshwadeep,
Maharashtra, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.
The pass percentage recorded in Andaman and Nicobar is 51.39.
This, officials attributed to lack of sufficient resources and
exposure in the area. Candidates who wish to appear for the
compartmental examination may do so by applying on or before
June 23, remitting a fee of Rs. 150 a subject, through schools.
The examination would be held from July 19. Candidates who wish
to apply for rechecking would need to pay Rs.100 by way of demand
draft drawn in favour of ‘The Secretary, CBSE’ payable
in Chennai, within 20 days.
