Free coaching for competitive examinations for students
Karaikudi: Alagappa University Study Circle (AUSC) has offered free coaching for students of affiliated colleges to take competitive examinations conducted by nationalised banks, railways, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
P. Suresh Kumar, Director, AUSC, said the centre has also chalked out programmes to tap and nurture rural talents after short listing the talented students in the 37 affiliated colleges.
The University has established study centres in all the affiliated colleges and the AUSC functioned as nodal centre, networking with the centres, he said.
Books for preparing for competitive examinations have been given free of cost to the students and career related information such as job notifications, model question papers and study materials were disseminated periodically, Mr Kumar said.
“As suggested by Prof Subbiah, Vice-Chancellor of the university, AUSC has taken the lead to tap and nurture rural talents,” he said.
After short listing talented students, the centre proposed to provide them intensive training to draw their career graph, he said.
Based on their interest and capabilities, the students would be exposed to higher studies, research and skill oriented programmes, he added.
He said the centre has recently conducted series of orientation programmes.
The programmes were organised in association with College development council and Centre for youth welfare and empowerment cell, he said.
Separate programmes were conducted for students of science and maths, commerce, computer science, information technology and computer application, he added.
The programmes were aimed at enhancing the interest, talents of rural students and ensuring their march towards employability and self-employment, he said.
