Memorandum signed for joint research
Dindigul: University of Malaya and Gandhigrarm Rural Institute had jointly signed an Memorandum of Understanding for exchange of students and faculty members and for joint research, said Wan Ainun Mior Othman, Professor, Institute of Mathematical Sciences, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
Talking to press persons here on Thursday, she said that it would be a win-win situation for both the institutions. GRI students may visit University of Malaya and do research under the guidance of professors there. Similarly, our students could do research under the guidance of GRI professors. Students and faculty members could also do joint research in the field of mathematics, she added.
University of Malaya Professor Kurunathan Ratnavelu said that the programme was funded by the Malaysian government. The GRI Maths Professor Balasubramniam was appointed High Impact Research Icon in our university to share his knowledge and experience with other academic staff and to build strong relations with other institutions.
This MoUs will provide an opportunity for students to do research at higher levels, he added.
Later, GRI Vice-Chancellor S. Natarajan received a copy of the MoU from Ms.Wan Ainun Mior Othman in the presence of Maths faculty.
