Higher Secondary Examination (HSC) / +2 (State Board) / XII / 12th - Results 2005
Wednesday, 18 May 2005: The overall pass percentage in the Plus
Two examinations improved marginally this year as compared to
last year. The results of the higher secondary examinations
released on Wednesday showed that 76.8 per cent of 5.12 lakh
candidates had passed (as against 76.3 per cent among 5.06 lakh
candidates last year).
G.Sathya of
Kurinji Higher Secondary School,
Namakkal, was the topper (1,185/1,200 marks), followed by
Asha Benazir of
Rosemary Matriculation Higher Secondary
School, Palayamkottai (1,183 marks).

The third place was shared by
Ayisha of
S.V. Mandir
Matric, Uthangarai, Krishnagiri district, and
R.Srinath
of
SRV Boys HSS, Rasipuram, Namakkal district, who scored
1,181 marks.
The toppers had taken Tamil as their first language. Chennai's
students came out tops among those who took other languages.
Although they scored more in terms of marks and aggregate, they
are not eligible for State ranks, awards and scholarships.
Leading the pack was the DAV group of schools with its Gopalapuram
branch securing the first two overall ranks. DAV HSS, Mogappair,
shared the third rank with Good Shepherd Matriculation Higher
Secondary School.
C.Sujana and
R.Shobana of
DAV HSS, Gopalapuram,
bagged the first two ranks, scoring 1,190 and 1,189 respectively.
S.Shivraj of
DAV HSS, Mogappair, and Maria Cheryl
Fernandez of Good Shepherd MHSS came third with 1,188 marks
each.
While 79.3 per cent girls passed the examinations, only 74.1
per cent boys were able to do so. A total of 2,82,003 students
scored 60 per cent and above.
