Sriram Educational Trust was founded in the year 1983 with donations from philanthropists for the noble purpose of promoting education at all levels by establishing Polytechnic, Institute of Catering Technology and Hotel Management, Engineering College, Arts & Science College, Institute of Business Management and Training and Research Institutions. Students hailing from the backward areas of Tiruvallur and North Arcot districts of Tamilnadu have been immensely benefited by the Educational Institutions run by the Trust.

Sriram Polytechnic College was established in the year 1984 with the approval of Government of Tamil Nadu in G.O. Ms. No.: 365 (Edn) dated 29-4-1984. It is affiliated to the State Board of Technical Education and being run by Sriram Educational Trust.
