Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) / 12 / XII / Twelveth - Results 2010

Wednesday, 19 May 2010: The Chennai region, comprising the southern and western States, has recorded a pass percentage of 92.17 in the All-India Senior School Certificate Examination 2010, whose results were declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education on Wednesday. Last year it was 92.06 per cent. Of the 56,245 candidates who appeared for the examination, 51,840 passed.

The results declared are those of Chennai, Ajmer and Panchkula regions. According to N. Nagaraju, Joint Director, CBSE – Chennai region, there was more pressure to declare the results in these regions as States such as Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh had already released their results.

The results of the other regions would be announced on May 21.

While Navodaya Vidyalayas recorded a pass percentage of 98.69 per cent, Kendriya Vidyalayas scored 95.50 per cent, he said.

Goa tops
Goa recorded the highest pass percentage of 98.23. This is from the eight schools and 396 students that appeared in the examination. It is followed by Tamil Nadu (97.11 per cent), Pondicherry (97.63) and Karnataka (97.05 per cent). Kerala has the maximum number of schools (407) affiliated to the CBSE. The pass percentage is 93.52 per cent.

Girls fare better
Girls have outdone boys this year too. The pass percentage among girls is 93.77 per cent, while among the boys it is 90.85 per cent.
