The Christian Institute for Technical Education was established in 1984 under the scheme of self-financing Polytechnic under the Directorate of Technical Education Tamil nadu as per GO. No. 753/EST/84 dated 12-06-1984.

The Institution is a minority Institute run by Christian Education, Health & Development Charitable Society, Ambilikkai. Reg. No. 17/1984 dated 05-10-1976. I.T. 12, A.No.177 of 09-12-1976.

The Institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Vide Ref .F. No. 418 GEN E&T 98 dt. Jan.22.1999
