Tuesday, 27 May 2008
- Class X students of schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the Chennai Region, have recorded an overall pass percentage of 95.25 this year.

Declaring the results here on Tuesday, CBSE’s regional officer V. Nagaraju said this was a 2.25 percentage point-increase from last year’s 93 per cent. Girls have secured a 95.58 pass percentage, outshining boys who secured a pass percentage of 94.99. Puducherry has secured the top spot in the region with a pass percentage of 99.69, while Tamil Nadu has secured 98.56. The Chennai Region comprises Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Daman and Diu, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshwadeep, Maharashtra, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.

The pass percentage recorded in Andaman and Nicobar is 51.39. This, officials attributed to lack of sufficient resources and exposure in the area. Candidates who wish to appear for the compartmental examination may do so by applying on or before June 23, remitting a fee of Rs. 150 a subject, through schools. The examination would be held from July 19. Candidates who wish to apply for rechecking would need to pay Rs.100 by way of demand draft drawn in favour of ‘The Secretary, CBSE’ payable in Chennai, within 20 days.
